A mini microscope called the FoldScope, invented by Mr. Manu Prakash that folds like origami to create an optical microscope out of cheap components and without the elements of a battery and a lens. Working for Stanford University, Prakash's foldscope was featured at the White House Maker Faire as part of the "frugal science" movement on June 18, 2014.

A pipe cleaner doll of Michelle Obama wearing a black dress and black heels were created by pipe cleaner artist Kenneth S. Williams of Anchorage, AK in 2015. The doll was given to President Obama during the GLACIER (Global Leadership in the Arctic: Cooperation, Innovation, Engagement and Resilience) Conference in Anchorage, AK. where he gave remarks on climate change on September 1, 2015.

Handmade artwork gifted to Michelle Obama from a student at the Mulberry School for Girls. The student created a map of the city of London made with white strings that attach from the brass pins that outline the city’s borders to the heart shape near the center. The heart represents the location of the Mulberry School in Tower Hamlets. On the reverse side of the map, there is a card with drawings and a letter thanking Mrs. Obama for making her feel “empowered!” Back in 2014, the First Lady visited the Mulberry School for Girls as part of the “Let Girls Learn” program.

A 100-year-old postcard celebrating the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. In 1909, the country celebrated the centennial birth of Abraham Lincoln through a variety of souvenirs, one of which was this postcard that was part of a commemorative series of six postcards by New York Publisher E. Nash showcasing President Lincoln’s life. This one illustrates Lincoln delivering his Second Inaugural Address in 1865 and was gifted to President Obama by Dolly Mason.
