President Mauricio Funes of the Republic of El Salvador gifted President Obama this Jaguar Head from the Jaguar Archeological Project, a program dedicated to spreading the legacy of the people of Western El Salvador. This cedar wood mask was inspired by similar sculptures from the early Mesoamerica civilizations (in particular, those of Ahuachapan, Sonsonate, and Santa Ana). It is believed that jaguar masks represent the transformation of a human into a being with magical powers.

This gift was given to President Barack Obama by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, and Beijing Municipal People's Government during the APEC meeting November 10-12, 2014. The long scroll painting depicts city scenes along the Central Axis of Old and Modern Beijing. The outside of the scroll is gold colored patterned fabric tied with a brown, orange, and yellow tribal print fabric. The scroll was presented with a gold key on a white marble stand about 6 inches long and 2 1/2 inches tall engraved with "With the Compliments of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality" along with Chinese characters. The city of Beijing’s location and design represents the “value of the center” in traditional Chinese culture.

This gift was given to First Lady Michelle Obama from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, during her trip to Qatar to speak at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) about girls' education and the Let Girls Learn initiative in November 2015. This gold-plated bird clock mechanism when wound up, tweets, turns, and flaps its wings once per hour. The mechanical bird is modeled after a common chiffchaff, or warbler. The back panel of the box lifts to access the 15 mechanical automatons made up of 500 individually made pieces. Etched into the back is text about the Islamic Golden Age and that the bird was created to honor the scholar and polymath Ismail al-Jazari (1186 CE -1206 CE). The piece was made by the music box atelier Reuge of Sainte-Croix, Switzerland, which are well-known for their mechanical singing birds.
